Safety CI

SafetyCI logo

For the health care community to be able benefit from the aggregate results of collected safety data whether it's for further research, the early detection of possible localized issues or the analysis of safety events on a world-wide scale, all of the data must be able to speak the same langauge.

Our solution to this effort is a service is called SafetyCI (collective intelligence).

Data from Safepost is combined with other available patient safety and event data sources to break down the silos of isolated information and to provide users of the system as much raw data as possible.

SafetyCI is designed to de-identify data through the complete removal of all sixteen identifiable elements outlined in HIPAA. Accompanying the de-identified event data is metadata about the type of care facility and type of care provided to the patient.

All elements associated with each event will be fully indexed and searchable by type of event, type of patient, type of care, type of equipment or medication, and general patient information including current diagnosis and admission diagnosis. This will allow researchers, clinicians and quality improvement personnel the ability to configure specific reports based upon their own criteria and parameters.

Through our diligence to completely protect personal health information and still provide standardized data for trending and research, we feel confident that we can assist in the delivery of higher quality healthcare for all patients.

SafetyCI is currently under development. If you'd like to receive more information on SafetyCI and our progress, we'd be glad to keep you up to date.

"Patient safety research is an invaluable resource for ensuring that health care reduces patient suffering and does not contribute to it. It is vital that research findings are translated into tangible actions that can actually save lives."

- Sir Liam Donaldson, Chief Medical Officer for England, and chair of the WHO World Alliance for Patient Safety

"Patient safety is a growing and exciting area of research. We want to encourage European and global collaboration to ensure that the right kind of research happens and that
evidence is shared."

- Mark McCarthy, Professor of Public Health at University College London
